  1. Benefit a broad number of children in Wanaque and/or Haskell Schools.
  2. Foster intellectual or creative development

Parameters for WHEF Grant Cycle

  • Requests for technology hardware will be reviewed on an individual basis, but the preference will be to first and foremost, enhance the technology already utilized by district.
    • Technology grants should be reviewed by building tech teachersto be certain any technology requested is not readily available within the district (i.e.; apps).
  • Grant recipients are required to attend the annual meeting of following year, to report on the progress of an awarded grant.
  • Applicants may attend a meeting to present their ideas to the board prior to voting.
  • All grants must be signed by the building principal, as well as the district superintendent. No grant will be accepted by the WHEF without both signatures.
  • The financial amount allocated for the open grant cycle will be published on the website.
  • The principal checklist will be made available on the website, offering further guidance on expectations of grant proposals.

Additions to current WHEF Grant Application:

  • WHEF does not fund student assemblies.
  • Questions to help further the thought process prior to writing grants:
    • Does your proposed project...
      1. Utilize an innovative and creative program directly benefiting and involving students?
      2. Offer students a unique learning opportunity which would otherwise be unavailable?
      3. Enrich an existing Wanaque District program?
      4. Provide resources that enhance classroom curriculum or student participation?
      5. Comply with all Wanaque District policies and regulations?
